She started Saturday playing in Adult/Youth 501 with Hannah McCandless, daughther of fellow Kryptonite Girl Kirsten McCandless. Hannah is a talented player and has reached the ADO Youth Nationals the past two years. They were playing together for the first time, but it was not to be on this day and they bowed out in the opening round.
Sandy then teamed with American dart legend Marilyn Popp, who has been a good friend and regular partner through the years. Marilyn is about as nice of a person you would ever want to meet and the reason Sandy scheduled this tournament. They always compete well together and this event was no different as they swept to both 501 and Cricket Titles. Sandy would go on to win 501 Singles with a strong showing over Marilyn in the Finals 3-0. On Sunday she bested fellow Kryptonite Girl Kay Hoover, 3-1 in an epic match to win Cricket Singles.
The sweep in Singles gives her 16 wins on the season and an impressive 93 for her career. She has swept Ladies Singles events at 7 tournaments this year.
Sandy teamed with Tom Sawyer for the 2nd time this year but came up short of their success in Cleveland earlier this year. They missed some "key" doubles and lost in the first round. They teamed with Todd Bumgarner and finished Top 4 in Mixed Triples. It was the first time she has ever played with Todd who worked with Sandy to design and make her a dart that would become her signature dart. Todd is really quite a talented lathe man indeed.
This was the last tournament Sandy will compete in before going over to England next month for the Winmau World Masters and representing her country for the sixth time in her career, an honor that never gets old. Winmau makes her signature dart and the best dart boards in the business. They are only one the her amazing sponsors that she is so lucky to have, along with L-Style Global, Spider Tech, Flying Bull Darts, Dutchman Darts and Kryptonite Darts.
