Then she returned to Deerfield Beach, FL over the weekend to compete in the Cherry Bomb International. Last year was her first trip to this popular southern tournament and she again found success in the warm Florida sunshine. Sandy started Friday by capturing the Ladies 501 Pro-Shoot Title over fellow K-Girl Paula Murphy in a repeat of last year's Final. This was the highest payout for the Ladies in the event.
She started Saturday by teaming with Nichole Graves for a Top 4 finish in the Adult/Youth event. Nichole would go on the win the first ever Winmau Girls National Championship later that day and Sandy was on hand to present the winner with a set of her Winmau signature Storm darts. Mixed Doubles 501 ended a round before the money as she and Pat Hewitt lost in the Top 16. She and Sandy Haas lost a Semi-Finals match to eventual winners Kelly Meares and Chris Grimal in Doubles Cricket. They would also lose to them in 501 Doubles on Sunday in the Top 8, and again they would go on to win the event.
Sandy would win the BDO ranked 501 Singles Title on Saturday over Deborah Ivey but lost a tight Semi-Final match to Paula in Cricket Singles on Sunday. This tournament is quickly becoming one of our favorite events on the schedule and sports a great setup and venue in a beautiful, destination area. This was her last event before going to Trinidad and Tobago to represent the USA in the America's Cup, which will be her third straight trip to this bi-yearly event.
As always, Sandy would like to thank her sponsors for their tremendous support as she chases her dart dreams. They, Winmau, L-Style Global, Flying Bull Darts and Dutchman Darts are always such a big part of her success.
