This event always has a great staff making sure the tournament runs smoothly and as usual, the best stage on the American dart tour, a stage she visited with frequency during the 3 day event. Summer is usually a down season for American darts and even though she had played in Ladies State matches, an ADO National Qualifier and the America's Cup in Barbados, she didn't really have her tournament legs as she says.
Friday she had to knock off some rust but still managed to advance to the Finals while not throwing her best darts. She missed way to many clean doubles in the first leg of the Finals and ended up losing 2-1 to the talented Lisa Ayers. After an early exit in the Friday night Blind Draw she again reached the Finals in Mixed Triples with her partners Tom Sawyer and Joe Efter but yet again had to settle for a 2nd Place finish. Sandy teamed up with fellow K-Girl Paula Murphy to win Ladies 501 Doubles and finish Top 8 in Cricket Doubles losing to fellow K-Girls Kay Hoover and Sandy Haas.
In the BDO ranked Singles 501 she reached the Finals only to lose to Paula 4-2 on Saturday. On Sunday she and Paula again met in the Finals where Sandy had to dig out of a big hole in the first leg to come back and win the Cricket title 2-0. She also had very tough matches against Brenda Roush, a repeat of their ADO National Cricket Championship Finals from earlier this year and K-Girls Melissa Wright and Kay Hoover.
All in all a good weekend working herself back into game shape with two titles, three runner-ups and a Top 8 finish. Sandy's loyal sponsors are always such an important part of her success, thank you to all the great people at Winmau, Spider Tech, Flying Bull Darts, Dutchman Darts and L-Style Global who again sponsored the Music City Classic. We also wanted to give a shout out to Tom Bush at Pickled Pig Darts for carrying her signature darts and keeping us up way too late on Saturday night/Sunday morning with some great conversation. September is a busy month for Sandy who will be at it again next weekend.
