Sandy started her season off in a familiar place, at Blue Rocks in Pineville, NC. The Celebrate the New Year tournament is a regular stop on her schedule but this year was a bit different. She couldn't come on Saturday due to family plans but made the trip up to play Sunday.
Once she got there she settled in and ended up winning all 3 events she played in even though she had to scramble to find partners. She teamed up with good friend John Liggett from Greenville, SC and they won the 501 Mixed Doubles title. She played with Jackie Quayle from Asheville, NC in the 501 Ladies Doubles and again claimed the win. She finished the day winning the 501 Ladies Singles title which raises her career total to 170.
This fun event is hosted by the QCDA and is always filled with regional friends. Michelle Strickland does a great job running the event and Pickled Pigs Darts were on hand selling darts and supplies. January is always a busy month on her calendar and this year is no exception as she has events every weekend including a couple of National Championships.
