She and Gage Alvarado teamed up to win the Adult/Youth 501 on Saturday. Anyone that knows Sandy personally, knows how much she enjoys playing with America's youth players and Gage is one of her favorite young partners. She went from that event to playing with Gage's dad George Alvarado and John Schaumann for a Top 32 finish in Mixed Triples 701. She also teamed with Kryptonite Girls teammate Bette Cunningham, but they weren't able to get it rolling, bowing out in the first round in 501 to the talented team of Charlie Daniel and Patty Walz and Robin Curry and Cali West in Cricket Doubles.
Most of her success came in Singles events were she finished Top 8 in the Cricket Pro-Shoot losing to Robin Curry on Friday. Sandy was in the Finals of the inaugural Pro-Shoot last year and was hoping for a return visit to the richest Ladies event on American dart tour. She also lost tough matches in both Semi-Finals to American legend Marilyn Popp in 501 and fellow K-Girl Marlise Kiel in Cricket. Sandy has had the pleasure of competing against these three world class players for years.
Sandy feels she has the best sponsors in the world and is so appreciative of the love and support she receives from Winmau, L-Style Global, Flying Bull Darts, Spider Tech, Dutchman Darts and Kryptonite Darts. She also receives so much support from the American dart community and was able to meet several new people this weekend. One last shout out goes to Paula Bushey and the great staff at the Virginia Beach Classic for all their incredible work to promote darts.
