But as much as Sandy loves this event and the great competition, she has struggled here in the high altitude more than any other place in the world. So this year she decided she had to reconstruct her throw to get the dart moving faster, and it worked to some degree.
On Friday she got off to a good start, then started to miss some opportunities but finished well and earned a 2nd place finish in the ADO's National Playoff for next year's WDF America's Cup to be held in Trinidad. It will be the third straight time she has represented America in the event where she has won a Gold and Silver Medal for Team USA. Her teammates next year will be Lisa Ayers, Larry Butler and Tom Sawyer.
She actually started the Colorado Open off on Thursday winning the warm up event while perfecting her modified stroke. She ended up winning the event and was told she had broke Sandy Reitan's long standing record for the Ladies High Score in the event. Her next to last round she averaged over 30 points per dart and topped 3000 points.
She paired up with Robbie Phillips and John Beard in Mixed Triples but bowed out in the second round. She went Top 4 in both Singles eventually losing tight matches to Paula Murphy in 501 and Lisa Ayers in Cricket, both would go on to in the events. Sandy paired up with fellow K-Girl Stacey Pace to win Doubles Cricket and earn a 2nd Place finish in 501 Doubles. Sandy has been traveling quite a bit lately and will be in Myrtle Beach, SC for the USSDA 501 National Championship in a couple of weeks. As always Sandy is so appreciative of the incredible support she gets from her loyal sponsors, for the best products. Thank you Winmau, L-Style Global, Flying Bull Darts and Dutchman Darts for all you do.
