The event was hosted by the South Carolina Upstate Dart League, which is one of Sandy's home leagues along with the Greenville Premier Dart Association and played at the VFW Post 10330, a longtime supporter of darts in upstate South Carolina. They have hosted many of these types of events before but this one was far from normal because a violent thunderstorm knocked out power to the building around midnight. With the power still out when everyone arrived, they were forced to open doors and play the event with the small amount of light coming through one door and no A/C on this 94 degree day. The conditions made her focus harder on her goal and the power came back on around 12:30.
It was her 18th straight regional qualifier where she advanced to the national playoff and this win sends her to Denver, CO in October. There she will compete for a spot on the American team for the 2013 World Cup to be held in Canada.
