She started with the ADO Cricket National Championship on Thursday where she won her bracket and advanced to the Final 8 knockout round. She played the talented Melissa Jalbert in the Quarter-Finals and won a hard fought match to advance to the Semi-Finals where she met Marlise Kiel. Marlise has long been one of the best players in America and like Sandy, cricket is probably her best game. This was a dog fight complete with an over zealous fan that delayed the match for a bit. Up 2-1 and leading late in the game, Sandy missed a critical shot and a golden opportunity. But against top level talent you can't expect to survive when you make mistakes. Marlise won that game to even the match and went on claim the victory 3-2. She then claimed the Cricket National Championship topping Cali West. Sandy skipped Friday's Nationals and Blind Draw and we spent an enjoyable day on the town with our niece and nephew.
A special thanks goes out to Dani Warmack who helped arrange a ladies partner after Sandy's partner cancelled. Also to Jules van Dongen for setting her up with his PDC buddy Damian Mol who was visiting from the Netherlands.
Saturday turned out the be the long day from hell. She advanced to the Top 32 where she lost another tough 3-2 match to Marlise in 501 Singles. Then the long wait to play Cricket Doubles where she and Clayanna Brandon were playing for the first time together. They had quite a run and survived some tough matches along the way, but they worked well together and ended up winning the event. She started Mixed Triples in her eleventh hour in the room and felt sorry for her partners Doug Wade and Don Conway whom she made wait so long with her run to the Finals in Ladies Doubles. After hitting a wall, Sandy wasn't much help and they lost in the 2nd round.
Sunday was the day everything caught up with her and she just couldn't find her form. She lost Cricket Singles to Carolynn Mars and her and Clayanna lost in the 2nd round of Ladies 501 Doubles. She started Mixed Doubles 501 and again got hit by long delays. She and Damian advanced to the Top 16 where they lost to another PDC player in Danny Baggish and the great Paula Murphy, these two have a lot of experience together and are quite formidable.
Sandy has some great sponsors that she is so appreciative of for all the great support they give her. Thanks Magic Wear Sports Apparel, L-Style Global, Winmau and Plague Darts.
