She was at her best in this round, posting a 22-2 record to win her bracket and advance to the Final Bracket. It was here that Sandy started to struggle dropping 4 of the first 6 legs she played against Stacey and Robin Curry. Clearly in some danger of not advancing to England for the first time in 5 years she mounted her comeback. She finished by winning 7 of her last 9 legs against Debra Ivey, Lisa Ayers and Cali West. She needed a big finish against Cali in the last leg to force her way into a four way playoff for two spots in England. Sandy won 2 of 3 and along with Lisa Ayers will advance to the Winmau World Masters later this year in England.
It will be the 8th time in her career that she earned the honor of representing America in this legendary event. Those who know Sandy know she marks her calendar each year in hopes of returning to the toughest room in women's darts. She is so proud of her partnership with the fine people at Winmau and their signature event.
She teamed with local player John Liggett in Mixed Doubles but kept running into talented players in the early rounds and bowed out in both 501 and Cricket before the money rounds. She paired up with K-Girl Paula Murphy to sweep both Ladies Doubles Titles, facing some stiff competition along the way. In 501 Singles Sandy finished 2nd to Cali West in the BDO ranked event and on Sunday in an All K-Girls Final she lost to Paula and finished as runner-up.
In the Semi-Finals she faced 13 year old Aaja Jalbert, the newly crowned ADO Girls Youth National Champion from Maine. I thought it was cool to see the reigning ADO 501 Ladies and Girls National Champs meeting for the first time, in Cricket no less. While Sandy won this round Aaja certainly has a bright future in this sport.
So much of Sandy's success lies in her equipment, Winmau makes her 'Storm' darts, distributed by Dutchman Darts and L-Style makes her amazing carbon shafts and signature 'Storm" flights and Flying Bull supplies her custom sublimation shirts.
