![]() Sandy made her third trip to this very popular tournament which draws one of the country's toughest field of players year after year, and this year was no exception. Still feeling the effects of a torn ACL, she hoped a couple weeks rest would help her play her best darts and in Friday's 301 Singles event it worked. She beat two of the ADO's Top 5 ladies players from 2012 to advance to the finals against another, Cali West who was aiming for her third straight 301 title here. Sandy led 2-1 in the best of five finals but simply hit a wall trying to get on in the next 2 legs losing 3-2. Saturday started with a Top 16 finish with " The Usual Suspects" teammates John Liggett and husband Chuck losing to L- Style teammates Larry Butler, Stacy Bromberg and Ryan Barnette who ended up winning. She teamed with Sandy Haas for a Top 4 in Ladies Doubles 501 again losing to the eventual champs. As the tournament went on her injury started to slow her down, she won three rounds in Singles 501 but could not defend her title losing to Diana Marsh who made a run to the finals herself. Sunday started great with a L-Style team breakfast before Cricket singles where she advanced to the Top 16 losing to Stacy Bromberg who yes, you guessed it, won the title. The day ended in the Top 16 in Ladies Doubles Cricket to the talented Cali West and Robin Curry.
![]() This regional event is one of our regular stops and we have come to know the players, staff and area fairly well as a result. The SRDA upgraded their venue last year and again raised the total payouts for this years event. Pictured with Sandy is Sophia Liggett who has been decorating her flights this year for good luck. Sophia's art work was even seen and photographed by her amazing sponsor L-Style global recently in Las Vegas. Sandy played with Sofie's dad John Liggett, a teammate from the hometown league and couldn't quite get going losing in the first and second round both days. They teamed with another teammate Jeff Turner but again come up short early. She and youth partner Gage Alvarado took a Top 4 in Cricket on Saturday and she went on to win Cricket Doubles with Julie Scheppele and earned a hard fought victory over Julie in Ladies Singles Cricket. Sunday she found out that her injured knee is a partially torn ACL but with the help of the fine people on SCI-SPORT, she was professionally taped with KT Tape for the long day ahead. She again was Ladies Singles in 501 with an impressive performance and then teamed with Julie to win a tough 501 Doubles victory. It is their 7th straight Ladies Doubles win at this tournament and the singles titles give her 4 on the season and 56 in her career. ![]() The American Darts Organization held it's Area 4-3 National Qualifier for the 2013 Winmau Masters team in Augusta, GA. While the Friday schedule proved to be problematic for a lot of people who could not get off work ,a good turnout was still on hand. Sandy went 25-5 on the day and won the event to advance to the national playoff in Dallas, TX in May. She and runner-up Lori Fowler will try to earn a berth on the American team for the Winmau World Masters in England later this year. Just reaching the national playoffs from the highly competitive Area 4-3 region, long considered a hot bed for nationally ranked players, is a great accomplishment. But the real prize lies in the honor of representing America in the single greatest women's field in the world, an honor she has earned 4 times and attended 3 times overall including the last two years. It will be her 21st appearance in the ADO's National playoffs events. |
