She soon traveled out of town for a small tournament, something she hadn't done in several years and then came the ADO Regional in Atlanta, GA where she earned a trip to Denver, CO and a chance to make the America's Cup team. It was her 2nd ever national ( she qualified once in Chicago in what she refers to as her first dart life ) but in a room full of talented veteran players she was simply over matched. The high altitude in Colorado presented another problem and still does.
Today in Cary, NC, Sandy won the ADO Area 5-6 National Qualifier to advance to Denver and a chance to again represent America in the America's Cup to be held in Trinidad next year. Worn down from work and travel and back and knee issues she clearly wasn't at her best, yet her experience, toughness and a burning desire to make her third straight America's Cup team pulled her through on the day. The WDF America's Cup is held in conjunction with the Caribbean Cup, which has been around for 42 years. The event is special to so many and has become special for Sandy as well. She has played at the last two American team winning Gold in 2014 in Tampa, FL and Silver in 2016 in Barbados.
She is blessed to have incredible sponsors and products to help her succeed, thank you so much to Winmau, L-Style Global, Flying Bull Darts and Dutchman Darts. You guys rock!!!
