
On Tuesday she played in the BDO World Trophy Qualifier but ran into a "buzzsaw" in the very first round, bowing out to the talented Tina Osboure from New Zealand 3-1. Sandy was able to take one leg throwing an 18 dart game but was unable to keep up with Tina who threw a 14, 16 and 20 dart game to earn the victory.
She had better success on Wednesday in the Lakeside Qualifier earning a Top 16 finish which matched her career best in the event. After receiving a first round "bye", she would beat England's Gemma Kerr 3-0, Juliet Finley 3-1 and Moira Coughlin 3-2. Her run ended when she missed far too many chances to hit doubles and secure victory against Scotland's Lesley Dawson, losing 3-2.
Thursday brought the start of the main event, the Winmau World Masters, which is regarded as the toughest room in ladies darts year in and year out. She again received a "bye" into the second round where she met Vanessa Zuidema of the Netherlands and threw perhaps her best darts of the entire week posting a 4-0 victory.
She next played Els Verpoorten of Belguim and won the opening leg only to see her opponent sweep the next 3 legs and go up 3-1. Pushed to the brink of elimination, Sandy answered the bell winning the final 3 legs for a 4-3 victory and a date with the #3 overall seed. Aileen de Graff of the Netherlands made it to the Semi-Finals for the first time last year and would represent a major challenge for Sandy who started well winning the first leg. Aileen would then win 4 straight close legs and finish with a hard fought 4-1 victory.
Sandy would end up in the Top 32 and while this was not her career best it did mark the 4th time she has finished the event as the highest finishing American player. Aileen would go on to ( ? ). Sandy was on hand for Friday's events as a guest of her sponsor and spent the day backstage with the Winmau staff and the players who warmed up before taking the stage. All in all she was pleased with her play in the prestigious event and the experience gained.
