This was the first time Apex was competing in the NC/SC Challenge Cup which started in 1981, it's the oldest challenge cup of it's kind in America. Sandy won all of her events on the day and was undefeated during the year raising her record in this series to 41-1. Success in this Cup comes from a team effort and Sandy is fortunate to have some incredible teammates including three new players for this match.
Karen Carnes, Tia Rogers, Amy Tucker, Gin Knight, Amy Patterson, Sara Warpinski, Teresa Cepek and Candice Curran were on hand as the GGDG not only defended the Cup but were gracious hosts bringing lots of outstanding food for everyone.
Sandy completed another great season which included a National Top 5 ranking despite her limited schedule due to early season injury issues, scheduling conflicts and cancelled tournaments which she usually attends. In all she missed nine events including large tournaments such as the Music City Classic and Shoot for the Moon. On the other hand it was the first time in her career where she represented America on both international teams at the Winmau World Masters in England and the America's Cup in Tampa, FL where she and her teammates won the Gold Medal.
Sponsors are so important to Sandy's success and in 2014 she continued to represent the fine people at L-Style Global, Flying Bull Darts and Kryptonite Darts who have backed her and believed in her for so long now. She also added new sponsors in Spider Tech and Winmau this year. Spider Tech makes an incredible line of high performance kinesiology tape products that were instrumental in helping her get back to her old self after last year's injury. Winamu signed Sandy to a 3 year deal in September and will produce a signature model dart for her. She is so excited to be with Winmau, "the force behind darts" and looks forward to a long and successful partnership with them and their US Distributor, Dutchman Darts. Sandy will return to action in January and looks forward to a great year in 2015.
