She mostly played pretty good on Friday, advancing through the seeding bracket undefeated as the # 2 seed. She earned a first round BYE then won her first two matches combined, 8-0. Her Semi-Final matchup was against Amanda Preciado, who has been ranked inside the Top 5 of the ADO all year, but Sandy prevailed 4-2 to reach the Finals. There, she played the talented newcomer Michelle Shamer, who was competing in her first ever National. Sandy was able to get off to a fast start and claimed her 7th National Championship 4-1. It is her first title since her knee injury which resulted in 2 knee replacement surgeries over the past two years. She is not back to her top form, but making steady progress.
After the event she drove home, attended the funeral and drove back down, all in a 24 hour period. On Sunday she played her first event with newly crowned National Champion John Liggett. They have been close friends for over 20 years. They had a tough opening match but were able to advance and eventually win Mixed Doubles Cricket. Next up was Ladies Doubles Cricket with Camilla Bunnell and they too were able to claim the win.
Sunday ended with Sandy winning Ladies Singles Cricket against Charleston's Linda Gaymon. It was her 6th Singles crown of the season and 155th of her career. This was the first ever Saltwater Classic created by the USSDA and she completed the weekend winning each time she played.
Sandy has such incredible sponsors who have backed her for years. She is blessed to have the support of Winmau, L-Style Global, Magic Wear and Dutchman Darts have shown.
