The PDC qualifier was an open event with no ladies brackets and is Sandy's first ever PDC event. She drew Ireland's Tracey Griffiths in the first round, she build a quick lead 3-0 and held on for a 5-4 victory. She advanced to play Glyn Carus of Wales and again built an early 3-0 lead while playing her best darts of the weekend. Glyn was able to turn the tide and he eventually gained a 4-3 advantage before Sandy tied the match and force the deciding game. She had a shot to win at the end but couldn't covert her double and lost 5-4.
Wednesday brought the BDO's Lakeside Qualifier which got off to a strange with an unexpected forfeit advancing Sandy to the second round where she faced Canada's JoAnn Luke. This was their second match in international play with JoAnn winning against Sandy at the 2014 America's Cup. This time Sandy ended on top with a hard fought 3-2 victory. Sue Edwards was next up and the talented English player defeated Sandy in a match that she struggled with her doubles.
Thursday brought the main event, the Winmau World Masters and and a hall filled with world class players. It's hard to get more world class than the most successful player in the history of women's darts, Trina Guliver, MBE. The 9 time World Champion is Sandy's fellow Winmau sponsored player. They both got off to a shaky start and both missed a lot of doubles, Sandy even busted a 140 and the match ended with both players shooting at double one, Trina would win at take a 1-0 lead . At that point both players heated up and threw some impressive darts and the match went down to the deciding leg with Trina earning a 4-3 victory.
This trip is always such an amazing experience made even better by her wonderful sponsors Winmau, L-Style Global, Spider Tech, Flying Bull Darts, Dutchman Darts and Kryptonite Darts.
