The America's Cup is held along with the Caribbean Cup and their rich forty plus year tradition. We were able to get there a couple of days early to enjoy island life before starting on Saturday. First up was a team match vs Turks and Caicos won by the Americans 13-0. On Sunday Team USA bested Belize 13-0 and broke a 3-3 tie to win 7 straight points topping the host country Barbados 10-3. Thus they won their bracket and advanced into the knockout round. In the Semi-Finals the defeated the Bahamas 7-3 and set up a rematch of the 2014 Finals with Canada won by the Americans. But in the end Team USA came up a few doubles short losing to a vary talented Canadian Team. They built a quick 5-0 lead and won the match 7-3 for their 2nd America's Cup Title in eight tries.
In Medal Singles play Sandy won her first leg recording a 114 out, which would end up being the Ladies High Out for the event. She won 2-0 over Sonji Williams of Turks and Caicos and defeated Mayon Dragon 2-0 of Trinidad and Tabago in the second round. Sandy beat Angela Russell of the Bahamas 2-0 and reached the Semi-Finals against her Winmau teammate Maria Mason of Canada. The heat and humidity played a strong role for the whole event and was never more evident then in this match. Maria beat Sandy 2-1 and would go on to first the Singles Gold Medal while Sandy would again accept the Bronze Medal in the event.
The memory of this beautiful place and the friendly locals spent with family and good friends will be with us and serve as inspiration to return. Sandy's sponsors always provide such incredible support as she chases her dart dreams. Thank you Winmau, L-Style Global, Spider Tech, Flying Bull Darts and Dutchman Darts. There's no rest for the weary as she is right back into it next weekend competing in two events in two states. As the song goes " the road goes on forever and the party never ends ".
